If all you have to offer the internet is more cat pictures, Don`t worry, if however you expect it to be free and last forever, that model doesn`t work and as systems go in or out of fashion or existence you`ll have to live with data loss in the long term.
But if you put time into your output, I prefer to look after it myself. I will trade views and likes for stability and being able to publish without preceding adverts, or the associated tracking of my visitors.
